JYOTHIDARSANA INSTITUTE OF COUNSELING AND MENTAL HEALTH was started by Carmel Province Muvattupuzha of the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI) Congregation, founded by Blessed Kuriakose Elias Chavara, a great visionary and social reformer of India. The counseling center was inaugurated on November 28, 1993 at Thodupuzha, Kerala, India with the purpose of the integral growth of individual, family and children. Jyhothidarsana also started training programs in Counseling and Psychotherapy with the aim of improving the mental health of Kerala.

Responding to the increased needs of the community and rendering better services to society, Jyothidarsana is shifted to a new campus at Pulluvazhy, Perumbavoor, Kerala, with more space, facility and programs. The ground breaking of the project was done on Saturday, December 08th, 2007.
